Conditions of subscriptions
1. SUBSCRIBER and DRIVER
Aged at minimum 21 years old.
The subscriber and/or driver has not declared more than 2 motor vehicle claims in the "last 36 months" where their total or partial responsibility was involved, or a personal injury accident, whether responsible or not.
The subscriber and/or driver has not been terminated by an insurance company for a claim, traffic law violation, driving under the influence of alcohol, or controlled substances. The subscriber and/or driver does not fall into the "category" of high-premium drivers (malussés), those actively seeking a new insurer, or those awaiting a decision from the Central Pricing Bureau.
The subscriber and/or driver has not had a license suspension or revocation in the last 60 months.
The subscriber and/or driver has not been involved in a traffic accident not declared by them to a previous insurer.
The subscriber and/or driver has not been involved in a traffic accident with a vehicle not covered by a motor vehicle insurance contract.
2. DRIVING LICENSE
French or foreign driving licenses, held for over two years in the category of the insured vehicle, and valid on French territory for the duration of the guarantee.

Principle
If you are staying in France for a short period (e.g., vacation), you may drive with your non-European license. It must be valid, written in French, or accompanied by an official translation or an international license.
If you are settling in France, you may drive with your non-European license for a maximum of one year, under certain conditions depending on where your normal residence is located in France.
Drivers concerned
You are concerned if you possess a driving license issued by a country outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Your nationality (French, European, or non-European) does not matter.
You are not concerned if you are resettling in France after an expatriation and hold a foreign license obtained in exchange for your French license issued after examination. Upon your return to France, your French driving license will be returned to you upon request at the préfecture.
If you are a foreign student or foreign diplomat, you are subject to specific rules. You may drive during your studies or mission in France.
Conditions for recognition of a foreign license in France
Conditions related to the driving license
To be recognised, your license must meet the following 3 conditions:
- must be valid,
- must have been issued by the country where you had your normal residence before moving to France,
- must be written in French or, if necessary, be accompanied by an official translation.
Conditions related to the license holder: You must respect the following 4 conditions:
- have the minimum age to drive vehicles of the equivalent license category in France,
- not be subject, in the country of issuance of your license, to a measure of suspension, withdrawal, or revocation of your right to drive. (This condition does not have to be proven. However, you must be compliant. It may be verified, especially during a police check),
- not have been subject in France, before obtaining your foreign license, to a measure of revocation or invalidation of your right to drive,
- respect the medical indications inscribed on your license (e.g., mandatory wearing of glasses).
You must also:
- if you are French or European, have obtained your license during a period when you had your normal residence in the country of issuance,
- if you are a non-European foreigner, have obtained your license before the start date of validity of your first residence permit in France or the validation of your visa by the Office français de l'immigration et de l'intégration (Ofii), and if you have a nationality different from the country of issuance of your license (e.g., an Algerian holding a Tunisian license), have obtained it during a period when you had your normal residence in that country.
Duration of recognition of a foreign license in France:
- If you are a non-European foreigner: Your non-European driving license is valid for a maximum period of one year following:
- the start date of validity of your first residence permit in France (temporary residence card, resident card, residence certificate for Algerians, skills and talents residence card),
- OR, if you hold a long-stay visa equivalent to a residence permit, the date of validation of this visa by the Ofii (this refers to the sticker and date stamp affixed to your passport).
- If you are European
- Your non-European driving license is valid for a maximum period of one year following the acquisition of your normal residence in France (i.e., a maximum of 18 months, which is the first 6 months of your residence in France + 12 months).
- If you are French
- Your non-European driving license is valid for a maximum period of one year following your entry into France (i.e., a maximum of 12 months).
3. VEHICLE
The following are excluded:
- Mopeds (CL* genre), motorcycles (MTTE*, MTL*, MTT1*, MTT2* genres), motorized tricycles and quadricycles (CYCL*, TM*, TQM*, QM*, CL* genres), and agricultural vehicles.
- Vehicles for public transport of goods (TPM), including messenger and courier services, in the course of their professional activities.
- Vehicles for public transport of passengers (TPV) for a fee, Taxis, VTC (chauffeur-driven vehicles) in the course of their professional activities.
- Ambulances and light medical vehicles (VSL), Sales Representatives' vehicles (VRP), driving school vehicles, company vehicles.
- Large or small luxury vehicles (Grande ou petite remise), rental vehicles with driver.
- Rental, sub-rental, or leasing vehicles whose license plate is not French.
- Vehicles belonging to major international car rental companies (Hertz, Europcar, Sixt, Budget, Avis, Enterprise, Thrifty, Alamo, and National).
- Vehicles belonging to local authorities or administration.
- Professional vehicles belonging to automotive professionals and vehicles required to circulate under a W garage certificate.
- Competition or rally vehicles (except tourist rallies) or tuning vehicles.
- Vehicles used for transporting dangerous or polluting materials.
- Vehicles that have received an unfavourable technical opinion and are prohibited from circulation, and non-homologated vehicles.
* The abbreviations GENRE and CARROSSERIE are indicated in fields J1, J2, and J3 of the mod. 2003 registration certificate (carte grise).
4. REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE
The vehicle must be accompanied by its complete and valid registration certificate or an immobilization record less than three months old as defined in Articles L325-1 et seq. of the Highway Code (Code de la route).
Any other document, notably a purchase order, an invoice, an adjudication slip, a vehicle identification sheet, an administrative status certificate, a technical inspection report, a report of loss or theft, the detachable portion of the carte grise, etc., will not allow the contract to be validated.
For vehicles registered in France, if the registration certificate (carte grise) is crossed out and/or bears the mention "ceded or sold on..." or has the stamp of an automotive professional, it must be accompanied by the "certificate of transfer/assignment" or the "public sale certificate" corresponding to this sale.
Failure to comply with the above will result in the application of Article 6, paragraph 2, of the subscription terms.
5. RIGHT TO RENOUNCE AND CONTRACT CANCELLATION
You cannot benefit from the right of renunciation provided for by Article 🔗 L112-2-1 of the Insurance Code in the case of providing insurance operations remotely. This right does not apply, by derogation, to motor vehicle civil liability insurance contracts as defined in Article 🔗 L211-1 of the Insurance Code.
No cancellation, no refund, will be possible after the guarantee has been validated.
6. MANAGEMENT FEES APPLICABLE TO REFUND BEFORE CONTRACT VALIDATION
The management fees deducted from any refunds made are:
- When the contract request complies with these subscription terms, a flat fee of 15 euros corresponding to management fees will be deducted from the refund.
- When the subscriber requests a contract that does not comply with these subscription terms, but does not fall under the scope of Article 🔗 L 113-8 of the Insurance Code, a flat fee of 35 euros corresponding to management fees will be deducted from the refund.
- When the subscriber requests a contract that does not comply with these subscription terms and falls under the scope of Article 🔗 L 113-8 of the Insurance Code, a flat fee of 60 euros corresponding to management fees will be deducted from the refund.
7. FALSE STATEMENT
The insurance contract is null and void in the event of intentional concealment or false statement by the insured, when such concealment or false statement changes the object of the risk or diminishes the insurer's perception of it, even if the risk omitted or misrepresented by the insured had no influence on the claim.
Any premiums paid remain the property of the insurer, who is entitled to the payment of all premiums due as damages.
